SWANSEA, Ill. (First Alert 4) - Organizations across the St. Louis metro are stepping up to provide food on the table for people in the region as many brace for next month’s challenges.
People are worried about how they’ll pay bills and buy food.
“With the food SNAPs being stopped Nov. 1 because of the government shutdown, people are going to need this assistance. They’re going to need meals,” said Janet Roberts.
Thursday night, Soulcial Kitchen and Marco’s Express in Swansea distributed food after the community donated for the last week. Cars filled the restaurant’s parking lot.
“I know I’m not the only one who appreciates this,” said Roberts.
“We didn’t anticipate that kind of demand, but it also shows what it’s like for people out there and help that can impact them in some sort of
