SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. (KWCH) - During his trip to Asia, President Trump highlighted his meeting with the leader of China, summarizing what was accomplished as “amazing.”

The president announced a reduction of tariffs on Chinese goods by 10% as China works to reduce the flow of illegal fentanyl. President Trump also said that China has agreed to resume buying American soybeans.

In Sedgwick County, Kent Winter is a fifth-generation farmer. As part of his crops, he plants soybeans. He said this year’s harvest was strong, but the back and forth between China and the U.S. left him and many farmers across the country facing uncertainty.

“It affected everybody. It really depressed the market,” Winter said.
