LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — A Las Vegas non-profit is launching a food assistance program as SNAP benefits approach expiration for recipients.

Vegas Helps is now accepting applications for its food box program. The organization plans to purchase approximately $10,000 worth of food this weekend and package it for SNAP recipients.

People can apply for the food boxes on the organization’s website at VegasHelps.com , said Vegas Helps founder Justin Woo.

“So right now, people are actually applying for these boxes, what we call the food box program, on our website at VegasHelps.com . And we’ll vet these out as much as we can. And on Monday, we’ll have the boxes prepared and probably do distribution in the Henderson area,” Woo said.
