In October 2024, Roswell sustained heavy flood damage, including extensive damage to the J. Kenneth Smith Bird Sanctuary at 401 N. Sycamore Ave., where a 50-foot section of the access trail was washed out — left very uneven and difficult to cross, especially for those with disabilities.
Recently a private citizen stepped forward and donated the funds to allow some repairs at the sanctuary, including the cutting of weeds and replacing the washed out area with a 10-by-53-foot cement slab, a job completed by J. Lusk Construction.
Much work remains to be done at the sanctuary. But thanks to this donation, the nature park is much more accessible.
