India is preparing to introduce a new verified caller identification system that operates independently of third-party apps such as Truecaller. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has approved the Department of Telecommunications’ (DoT) Calling Name Presentation (CNAP) framework, which will display the registered name of callers directly on users’ mobile phones. This initiative, confirmed by both TRAI and DoT, aims to make phone communications more transparent and secure for millions of subscribers nationwide.
