RANCHO CUCAMONGA — The Rancho Cucamonga football team didn’t score a single point in the second half of Thursday night’s game, but the Cougars’ offense did the job to clinch the game.
After Chino Hills closed to within seven points with 3:44 to play, the Cougars’ offense held on the ball the rest of the way and host Rancho Cucamonga held on for a 31-24 victory.
The win gave the Cougars (7-3 overall, 5-0 league) the Baseline League title over the Huskies (7-3, 4-1). That also completed a perfect 15-0 league season for Rancho Cucamonga in all three levels of football.
“We’re trying to build a whole program. That’s what we’re really trying to establish here,” said Alex Pierce, in his first season as Cougars’ head coach. “The expectation is to win league here. The kids have stepped up… and
