There’s been a particular penchant among the stars for a kind of shipwrecked chic look—last night at Glamour’s Women of the Year awards 2025, Tyla added a delightful new twist to the trend.
Pirate-forward style has been trending for a while now. Jenna Ortega in a ruffled and sea witchy fall 2025 ready-to-wear Vivienne Westwood gown by Andreas Kronthaler is just one example. On the spring 2026 runways, McQueen was all about the slouchy captain boot and high sea-weathered rococo jackets, and low-slung and metal-detailed balloon pants were runway to walk-the-plank ready at Isabel Marant, and Dior showcased a Captain Hook-like chapeau.
While the trend so far has been dominated by shades of indie sleaze, Tyla has a more fluid and fun take that dredges the seas for some inspo—quite literal
