New Mexico State will attempt to lock in this week.
The Aggies (3-4, 1-3 Conference USA) need to win a majority of their next five games to become bowl eligible, with the first of those five games coming against Western Kentucky (6-2, 4-1) at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, on the road.
NM State is coming off two brutal losses that have dropped its record below a .500 winning percentage for the first time this season. The first was against Liberty on Oct. 14 after rallying from a 20-6 deficit to lead 27-20, only to squander that lead and miss a potential game-tying field goal as time expired to lose 30-27. The second came against Missouri State on Oct. 22 after an interception on the first play of its overtime drive resulted in a 24-17 defeat.
