SALEM, Mass. —

The Witch City is getting ready to do what it does best as thousands of people are expected to visit Salem on Friday for the city's Halloween Happenings .

"Visitor trends throughout October indicate that we are expecting large crowds for Halloween night,” said Mayor Dominick Pangallo. "We encourage everyone to help us keep Salem magical: plan ahead, take public transportation, respect our rules and our residents, and enjoy a safe and fun Halloween."

There are several road closures in place, including Essex Street, which is sure to be packed.

Several barriers are currently in place, and police said they may also close other roads if they think a public safety issue exists.
