Dehradun : In Uttarakhand, the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) has brought major changes in relationship and marriage registrations. Recently, 40 couples applied online to register their live-in relationships through the UCC portal. Out of these, only 12 couples received approval to live together, while 22 applications were rejected due to incomplete documentation.
District Panchayat Raj Officer Atul Pratap Singh, who is also the nodal officer for UCC marriage registration, confirmed the figures. He said the remaining applications are still under review. The rejections highlight the importance of submitting proper documents for live-in registration under the new system.
