IOWA CITY — Iowa women’s basketball has checked its first box in this long season, cruising to an Oct. 30 exhibition win over Ashland that saw every player get in and several stand out.
A 104-63 triumph on Halloween Eve saw Iowa overwhelm Division II Ashland with robust paint production and suffocating defense. An 11-point lead after one quarter ballooned to a 24-point cushion at halftime. Double-figure contributions from Hannah Stuelke (23 points), Emely Rodriguez (17), Ava Heiden (14), Chit-Chat Wright (12) and Layla Hays (10) got Iowa off on the right foot in this dress rehearsal.
Several noteworthy takeaways developed even with the lopsided score. Here are three things that stood out from Iowa’s exhibition win.
