Syracuse, N.Y. – Sadiq White was in the middle of answering a reporter’s question when a familiar face reached over to slap his hand.
It was Carmelo Anthony.
“Like that?’’ Anthony said to White. “A corner 3 like that?’’
“Oh man,’’ a partially flustered White responded. “Yessir.’’
White, a 6-foot-9 freshman, had just played his first game in a Syracuse uniform. After missing SU’s first exhibition game against Buffalo on Saturday, White had scored 14 points and grabbed four rebounds in the Orange’s 75-57 win over Pace on Wednesday at the JMA Dome.
The high-flying White electrified the fans with four rim-rattling dunks, but what had Anthony excited were a pair of 3-pointers White had made, including one from the corner in front of the SU bench.
