Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal today participated in the Unity March and paid floral tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 150th birth anniversary at India Gate in New Delhi.

During the event, the minister administered the Oath of Unity based on Sardar Patel’s ideology to uphold the unity, integrity, and sovereignty of the nation. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Lal lauded the contribution of Sardar Patel in uniting 562 Princely states into India. The Minister also highlighted how Sardar Patel and Mahatma Gandhi united Lakshadweep and made it a part of India. Underlining the transformation in recent years, he noted that India has moved from power deficit to power surplus, even supplying electricity to neighbouring countries. He added that India now ranks 3rd globall
