There haven’t been many wide receivers like Jeremiah Smith at Ohio State, and OSU is thought of as a wideout factory.
The 6-3, 223-pound Smith, a second-year sophomore, has caught 22 touchdown passes in 23 career games. He can run by a defensive back or through him.
Smith has 125 career catches for 1,917 yards.
It probably would be more accurate to say there have not been many players like Smith.
Smith is only half the problem facing Penn State’s defense when the Lions visit No.1 Ohio State on Saturday at the Horseshoe.
PSU’s secondary, considered a team strength, must try and slow Smith and Carnell Tate, another Buckeye viewed as a future first-round pick.
The 6-3, 195-pound Tate has 34 receptions for 587 yards and six touchdowns.
