Highway 401 express lanes in part of Mississauga are closed after a multi-vehicle crash involving a tractor trailer early Friday, police say.
The collision was caused by a small passenger vehicle that hit an "end treatment" where collector lanes are divided from express lanes, Ontario Provincial Police Const. Kerry Schmidt said in a video on social media. The vehicle was redirected into the express lanes, where it hit a tractor-trailer, which lost control and smashed into a concrete median, he said.
Police are now dealing with "major debris issues," Schmidt said, with concrete scattered over the express lanes.
Express lanes were closed both ways near Winston Churchill Boulevard for part of Friday morning, but westbound lanes have since reopened at Mavis Road, police said around 8 a.m. E
