A JetBlue flight heading from Mexico to New Jersey was forced to make an emergency landing in Florida on Thursday after several passengers were injured.
The Airbus A320 was traveling from Cancun to Newark when the altitude suddenly dropped.
After landing, several passengers were taken to a nearby hospital.
The airline did not say how many people were injured or how badly. ABC News reported that pilots told air traffic controllers that at least three people had possible lacerations.
Tampa Fire Rescue told NBC News that about 15 to 20 people were hospitalized with injuries that were not life threatening.
Pilots said the incident was due to a flght control issue and not caused by the weather.
