The Valley of Flowers, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was closed for tourists for this season on Friday. This year, the total number of visitors declined compared to last year, although the number of foreign visitors increased. The park administration cited road blockages and disasters during the rainy season as the main reasons. The Valley of Flowers remains open to tourists from June 1 to October 31. July-August is the period when the largest number of domestic and foreign tourists arrive due to the blooming of various species of flowers. The deputy forest conservator of Nanda Devi National Park, Mahatim Yadav said that this year a total of 15,924 tourists visited the Valley of Flowers, including 15,508 domestic and 416 foreign tourists.
