NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans City Council seat left open by Oliver Thomas' departure is being pursued by Cyndi Nguyen, the person who held the seat previously, and Jason Hughes, the veteran state representative.
The candidates' views differ slightly on the most pressing issue in the district.
According to Nguyen, "There's actually several things for District E, but everything contributes to it. From economic development, bringing in true companies to really provide jobs, and then from quality-of-life issues. And then just a cleanliness to creating that positive atmosphere that includes the East and the Lower 9 area."
