President Donald Trump has called on Republicans to abolish the filibuster in order to bypass Democratic Party opposition and end the government shutdown that has stretched to a full month, making it one of the longest ever.

“It is now time for the Republicans to play their “TRUMP CARD,” and go for what is called the Nuclear Option - Get rid of the Filibuster, and get rid of it, NOW!” Trump wrote late Thursday in a post on Truth Social.
