A New Hampshire shopper got an unwelcome surprise in her produce this week — a widow spider, she says, crawling inside her container of grapes.
In a Facebook post , Calista Plaisted says she purchased Anthony’s Organic red grapes from the Market Basket in Lee, New Hampshire, on Sunday. When she pulled them out of the fridge a few days later, she noticed spider webs on the grapes.
“As I pulled them out, I expected to find a small spider, but instead I discovered a widow,” the post says.
Plaisted told NBC10 Boston that a Google Image search showed the spider as a widow, and she later confirmed this with a University of New Hampshire expert.
