Alcorn Central elementary, middle, and high schools increased security Friday after being subject to what officials described as a “random threat.”
In a message sent to parents, at approximately 6:24 a.m., administrators stated that they had collaborated with law enforcement and determined the threat to be “non-credible.” However, as a precaution, additional deputies will be stationed on the campus in Glen throughout the day to ensure the safety of students.
“Out of caution, we will have extra security on campus today. School will continue as normal, and student safety remains our top priority,” the message read.
The Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office confirmed its deputies had been present at the school “for a few hours” Friday morning, noting that they will remain on-site during the day.
