Hyderabad: Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar has requested a two-month extension from the Supreme Court concerning the disqualification proceedings against ten MLAs from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). These MLAs are accused of defecting to the Congress party following the 2023 assembly elections.

The BRS had appealed to the Supreme Court regarding the disqualification of these defected legislators, leading the court to direct the Speaker to address the disqualification issues within three months, starting from the order given on July 31. The deadline for this action lapsed on October 31.
