Halloween spending is expected to reach a record $13.1 billion this year, according to the National Retail Federation, marking an increase of $1.5 billion from last year.
Despite the rising costs, 73% of shoppers still plan to celebrate Halloween, indicating that the holiday remains a significant event for many Americans.
"It is hard finding candy and getting a good price," said Elisa Romanishin, who is passing out candy this year. "From what I remember, it was a lot cheaper. It's maybe a little more expensive, but I think it's definitely worth it."
Brianna Grieshaber, who is dressing up for Halloween, noted the cost of costumes, saying, "I just spent 50 dollars on a dress for my costume. Anywhere else you look, you're just gonna spend $30-$40 to $50 on a costume."
