ROCHESTER, Minn. – A man accused of throwing a knife at a Rochester police office has taken a plea deal.

Kyle Robert Walding, 20 of Rochester, had been charged with two counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, domestic assault, and fleeing a peace officer. Police say Walding, who was already wanted on a warrant out of Blue Earth County, caused a disturbance at a woman’s apartment on Marion Road SE in Rochester on June 23.

Court documents state Walding knocked on the door, then swung a knife under the door and hit one person in the foot.

The Rochester Police Department says when officers confronted Walding in the apartment parking lot, he held the knife over his head and then threw the knife at an officer, who ducked. Police then took Walding into custody after a short
