PIERRE, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The South Dakota State Library is introducing a new statewide program: Storytime South Dakota , to encourage reading and literacy across the state.

Participating libraries will host storytime events featuring the Prairie Bud-winning book, “A Children’s Picture Book About a Fire Hydrant and an Unlikely Neighborhood Hero” by Breanna Carzoo.

The children’s book encourages kids of all ages to be confident and discover their self-worth.

Each participating library and event will spotlight the value of reading and the impact of local libraries.
