COLUMBUS — The Ohio Redistricting Commission on Friday unanimously approved a map that grants Republicans an advantage in 12 of Ohio’s 15 congressional districts until 2031.

Democratic leaders said they agreed to the plan because it was the best possible outcome they could have achieved under the current redistricting process, noting they believed all five of Ohio’s Democratic representatives have a realistic chance to win re-election in 2026.

“Despite all of my concerns, I voted for this deal because it was the best of a worst-case scenario,” said Senate Minority Leader Nickie Antonio (D., Lakewood). “Like our previous map, Democrats continue to have a narrow path to winning four or five seats under these lines.
