The Wood River Wolverines volleyball team earned a 25-16, 25-18, 25-19 sweep of the Vallivue Falcons in the first elimination round of the Idaho Class 5A state tournament in a Friday morning contest at Timberline High School in Boise.
“We wanted our focus to be playing Wood River volleyball and controlling our side of the court,” said Wolverines senior setter Story Sharp. “When we do that, we tend to win.”
Fellow Wood River senior Ellie Sandoz was happy with the consistency the team showed throughout the game.
“Keeping focus and getting through sets was something we’ve focused on,” she said. We dominated and had good plays.”
Wood River, the No. 5 seed, advances to the next elimination round against the loser of the 3:30 p.m. game between No. 2 seed Shelley and No. 3 seed Lakeland. The
