AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) - The Augusta-Richmond County Public Library System released a statement Friday expressing what it calls "serious concerns" over the proposed Fiscal Year Budget for 2026, which includes a potential reduction in funds.

According to the library system, the proposed budget would decrease funds by 10 percent, a $288,590 reduction from the previous allocation, giving the library an awarded amount at $2,598,250. It would place the it below the amount approved in approved 2022.

The library system said the decrease would be a threat for library services for residents in the area.
