ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — The St. Petersburg Police Department said it is investigating an attempted homicide that occurred Thursday evening.

A neighbor called the police at around 8:45 p.m. and said the victim was found bleeding in his home on 21st Avenue South.

Police arrived to find 44-year-old Jerome Smith suffering from a gunshot wound, but still alive. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, where he remains as of Friday afternoon.
