The Pittsburgh Steelers placed starting safety DeShon Elliott and defensive tackle Daniel Ekuale on injured reserve Friday.
Elliott already had been ruled out for Pittsburgh's Sunday game against the Indianapolis Colts due to a hyperextended knee, head coach Mike Tomlin announced Tuesday.
The move to injured reserve will require Elliott to miss at least four games.
Ekuale sustained a torn ACL in the Steelers' 35-25 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night and, per Tomlin, will be out for the season.
Elliott, 28, missed two games this season after sustaining a knee injury in the season opener against the New York Jets. He has 38 tackles, one interception, one sack and one forced fumble in five starts this season.
Ekuale, 31, had six tackles in seven games this season.
