Transit turmoil begins Saturday as Montreal faces the start of what could be a month of chaos across its métro and bus network.

For the first time in nearly 40 years, the city’s 4,500 bus and métro operators are walking off the job as part of three days of strikes planned in November.

A second, longer strike by maintenance workers begins at the same time, reducing service to rush-hour periods only until Nov. 28.

Together, the two walkouts are set to cause widespread disruption and limited options for millions across Montreal.
