Two days before Montreal’s municipal election, Ensemble Montréal mayoral candidate Soraya Martinez Ferrada was optimistic, saying she thinks her party can break through in boroughs long held by Projet Montréal.
The former federal cabinet minister, who took over the party that Denis Coderre led to back-to-back defeats, has been ahead in every poll, with the most recent survey suggesting the gap has widened between her and her closest rival, Projet Montréal Leader Luc Rabouin.
While she has played down the polls, saying the only one she’ll be watching is the Nov. 2 vote, Martinez Ferrada said Friday that she thinks Montrealers want change and have come to see her party as the one that can deliver it.
