STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Tuesday, Nov. 4, is Election Day, and New Yorkers will head to the polls to vote for mayor, public advocate and comptroller. Staten Islanders will also vote for borough president and City Council members, while special court elections will be held.
Polling sites are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

Election Day is not a federal holiday, but it is considered a state holiday in New York. City government offices and city and state courts are closed. It is an optional holiday for state employees.

Banks, businesses
Most banks and businesses remain open on Tuesday, but some retail stores are reducing their hours to allow employees to vote.
