The board voted to extend Evans’ term, which is now set to end on June 30, 2030, according to a press release from the university.
Evans was elected to the board in 2009 and became chairman in 2017. The term extension came via a board-approved resolution praising Evans' leadership. It noted his “deep understanding of the university’s key principles — excellence, academic freedom and free expression, institutional neutrality, and growth and development,” the release said.
Evans graduated from Vanderbilt in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and economics. He additionally holds a Master in Business Administration
