BAINBRIDGE, Ohio -- For the past nine years, the Hungry Bee (8326 E. Washington St.) has put out a blue cooler under their porch filled with food for anyone dealing with food insecurity -- and recently that cooler is seeing more activity during the government shutdown.
According to Hungry Bee Owner Kimberly Gibson, the blue cooler has been emptied more frequently in the past month during the federal government’s shutdown.
The blue cooler is packed with food that Gibson would feed her own family and is a convenient grab and go meal that can be eaten easily.
The owners of the Hungry Bee would also like to create a nonjudgmental zone as anyone in the community -- a mother, a school bus driver, a member of corporate America that can retrieve a meal with little fanfare.
