CLEVELAND, Ohio – St. Ignatius forced overtime but that is where the Wildcats’ season ended. Perrysburg overcame the Wildcats in a thrilling playoff opener Friday night, winning 24-17 in overtime on a 1-yard touchdown run by junior running back Liam Nowakowski.
The fifth-seeded Yellow Jackets improved to 9-2 and advanced to the second round of the OHSAA Division 1, Region 1 playoffs, while 12 seed St. Ignatius saw its season end with a 1-10 record.
No. 4 Toledo Whitmer (8-2) hosts Perrysburg next week in the regional quarterfinals.
