A Corinth woman was sentenced to 20 years for a series of burglaries in Alcorn County, according to First Circuit District Attorney’s Office.
The woman was identified as 50-year-old Effie Dawn Thomas.
Thomas pleaded guilty in Alcorn County Circuit Court to two counts of burglary of a building and three counts of burglary of a vehicle. Circuit Court Judge Michael P. Mills Jr. ordered her to serve 20 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, followed by five years of post-release supervision. The court noted the sentence is in addition to an eight-year term Thomas is already serving.
The convictions stem from four separate cases, two investigated by the Corinth Police Department and two by the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Department. Investigators Jerry Mayhall, Michae
