When Austin Bradshaw met his wife, Kaelin, in 2015, he was too nervous to ask her on a date, so he did what any 20-year-old crushing on his restaurant server would do: He wrote his information on a napkin and gave it to her.

Over 10 years later, after multiple homes, jobs and an unexpected cancer battle, he's pretty sure the napkin still sits in her violin case, he tells TODAY.com. (She started playing when she was 5.)

Kaelin Bradshaw of Loxahatchee, Florida, died at age 29 of cholangiocarcinoma, a form of bile duct cancer, on Monday, Oct. 27.

When the couple found out nine months before that she was sick with a disease that normally affects people over 50, their first reaction was to tackle it head on. They told each other: "If anyone's got this, it's us," Austin Bradshaw, 30, recalls.
