KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Knoxville Police Department said it arrested dozens of people and cited several others in the downtown and Old City areas Friday morning.

According to KPD, the operation, which began at 4 a.m. and ended around 10 a.m., was part of “a continuing effort to address persistent quality of life and order maintenance issues and respond to the concerns of downtown residents and businesses.”

In total, KPD said 31 people were arrested for charges that include trespassing, drug possession and outstanding warrants. Additionally, five people were issued misdemeanor citations and two people were taken to an area hospital for a medical evaluation.
