FLINT, MI -- Jedidiah Brown’s lawsuit against Flint officials for their roles in removing him from a City Council meeting in April can continue in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, but the activist will apparently need a new attorney.
Judge Matthew F. Leitman granted a motion from the city on Friday, Oct. 31, to disqualify attorney Lawrence A. Katz from representing Brown because of his ties to the Lento Law Group.
City attorneys have argued in a court filing and in a remote hearing on Friday that Katz cannot represent Brown in his lawsuit against six Flint officials and employees because of the “ethical repercussions” of the suspension of Joseph D. Lento from the practice of law in Pennsylvania for five
