Nearly two decades after she was sexually assaulted as a young child by a neighbour, a woman says she she still has night terrors.

The woman shared the effects of the incident in 2007 at the sentencing hearing Friday in Regina Court of King's Bench for Edwin Dwight Woolhether, 68.

“The trauma from the assault caused me to retreat within myself and trust no one,” she said.

The now-adult woman's identity is protected by a publication ban because she was a child, in kindergarten, when the assault happened.

Earlier this year, Woolhether was convicted of one count of sexual assault for the 2007 incident.
