Six players from a Stoney Creek under-14 hockey team have received suspensions for what’s described as “psychological, physical and sexual maltreatment” of teammates in the dressing room, while three coaches have also been sanctioned for not properly supervising the room.

Among the behaviours cited were incidents of players having their pants pulled down and videos of other disturbing actions and comments uploaded to social media.

“It is a cesspool of racist and homophobic images and content, slurs and jokes about sexual assault,” wrote an independent adjudicator assigned by Hockey Canada about the team’s Snapchat account.
