COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Federal judges on Friday ordered the Trump administration to tap into billions of dollars in emergency funds to cover the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as SNAP.
This delivers potential relief to millions of Americans, including more than 500,000 South Carolinians, who rely on food stamp benefits just one day before those benefits were set to expire .
The court decision could help SNAP recipients, though uncertainty remains about how quickly debit cards for those receiving the benefits could be reloaded after the ruling. That process could take several weeks.
