COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) -A Cuban family is celebrating the grand opening of their new restaurant, Cuban Corner, in downtown Columbia — a milestone in their journey toward the American dream.
The Galguera family, who came to the United States just a few years ago, began their culinary venture with a humble tent at the Soda City Market. Now, they’ve opened a permanent location at the corner of Sumter and Hampton streets.
“This country opened her arms for us — especially Columbia, South Carolina — so I’m very grateful,” said Yaema Galguera, co-owner of Cuban Corner.
The restaurant aims to bring the flavors and warmth of Cuban culture to the Midlands, offering traditional dishes such as Cuban sandwiches and empanadas. Inside, the aroma of sizzling food and the sound of laughter fill the air, c
