GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - Hundreds of thousands of Mississippians who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program are set to go without benefits come Saturday, Nov. 1.
Lyndia Lonberger, along with many others, is bracing to go without the benefits that support her and her disabled son.
“I don’t understand the rationale of our government right now. I just hope that our government come together, solve these problems,” she said.
That is why she was in line for food, hoping to get as much as she could to fill that gap and her pantry.
“We don’t know what’s going to happen. We know things are up in the air, so we are trying to do our best to maintain until we see what’s going to happen,” Lonberger said.
She’s not the only one. SNAP - or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
