MAINE (WABI) - Maine’s 207 area code will be sticking around for many more years to come.

Friday, the North American Numbering Plan Administrator says the state’s iconic area code will be extended to the first quarter of 2050.

This marks another extension from its previous forecast in April which projected 207 would be exhausted by 2045.

This new analysis places Maine among the states with the longest remaining area code lifespans nationwide.

The Maine Public Utilities Commission says preservation efforts have delayed the need for a second area code in the state.
