HURRICANE, W.Va. (WOWK) —As we've been telling you all week, SNAP and WIC Programs will lose funding by Saturday if the government does not reopen. That means over 270,000 West Virginians will have difficulties affording food without their benefits. Local foster families and organizations are feeling those effects.

"Two of our three kiddos rely on WIC or have relied on WIC at some point in their life," said Mariah MacIver, a foster mother in West Virginia. "It's really become essential and a lifeline for us, and not just us but for every foster family."
