A trial to determine the legality of deploying the National Guard to Portland ended Oct. 31, with a decision from a federal judge expected by Nov. 2.
The three-day trial included witness testimony and focused on whether the protests outside Portland's ICE facility necessitated the Trump administration's federalization and deployment of the National Guard.
U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut will decide if the deployment is legal and can be carried out.
Immergut requested the parties provide additional information by Nov. 1 and said she wanted to continue considering the evidence presented. She will issue a decision ahead of the Nov. 2 expiration of her order blocking the deployment of any federalized National Guard to Portland.
