AKRON, Ohio – Metro RTA is offering Ohio Direction Card and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients and members of their household free rides until further notice, according to a Metro RTA news release.
The free rides begin Nov. 1 and include any Metro Direct route or Metro’s ADA service. Cardholders must present their card to receive a free ride.
Individuals who are new to the Metro RTA service can call 330-762-0341 for more information. Passengers can access routes and times on the Metro RTA website .
The move comes as Ohio Direction Card and SNAP recipients face disruptions to their benefits following the federal government shutdown.
As of Friday afternoon, Congress has not passed a federal budget or allocated funding to permit the program to continue. However,
