OREGON, USA — The Story's Blair Best sat down with Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden to talk about a variety of topics — national and local — from the ongoing federal shutdown to the Chauncey Billups scandal.
The federal government, as of Friday, has been shut down for 31 days , with a great deal of political finger pointing from both parties.
Best asked Wyden who bears the greatest responsibility for the second-longest shutdown in U.S. history: Democrats, who have voted the GOP's funding resolution down more than a dozen times, or Republicans, for refusing to budge on certain health care assistance?
Wyden sidestepped the question, reiterating that he wants to find a solution but needs a "commitment to work it out in a bipartisan kind of fashion."
